We commissioned a garden room for our Victorian semi. The architect's plans for the pitch-roofed extension were innovative but also created certain difficulties, in particular the extensive use of costly lead. The problems were solved by the use of Sarnafil’s roofing system. As well as providing the strength of a waterproof membrane with steel reinforced edges, the colour and texture of the product, in a highly visible position, provided an aesthetically satisfying impact.

I called RLW roofing when my 10-year-old kitchen flat roof began to fail. I had in mind replacing it with a pitched roof for durability although I knew that it would be difficult getting the necessary slope in view of the space that we had. I was delighted when Rob Ward illustrated the Sarnafil system, which was ideal for shallow pitch roofs. We had planned to include two large Velux type roof lights to increase the natural light in the kitchen and again Rob suggested using large architectural glass sections to maximise the effect. The end result is a delightful oak framed large glass area within a vaulted ceiling. Externally the shallow pitch and smooth Sarnafil covering fits the space perfectly and matches the Victorian slate on the main house roof. Overall we are delighted with the result, which makes the kitchen a beautiful light area to be in even in winter.
